Omaha, NE — A landmark development in Nebraska’s cannabis legislation has emerged as the Nebraska Medical Marijuana Initiative has officially secured a spot on the 2024 ballot!
Nebraskan's for Medical Marijuana have unofficially announced they have met the requirements on both of their initiates.
This significant step forward comes after years of efforts from advocates, petitions, and legal battles, setting the stage for a pivotal moment in the state’s approach to medical cannabis.
Christa Eggers, Campaign Manager for Nebraskans for Medical Marijuana released the following statement:
"After years of hard work, we are beyond excited that Nebraskans will finally have the opportunity to have their voices heard on this issue this November. Our fight has been long, it has been hard, but we have never given up. Today we celebrate that very soon, patients in this state will have access to medical cannabis treatment. we want to thank all of the Nebraskans who dedicated countless hours and days of their lives to make this possible, and we look forward to the final certification by the Secretary of State in the coming."
In early July 2024, NMM turned in nearly 115,000 signatures fore each initiative despite only needing 86,499.
